Boy, 16, is charged with arson after blaze in London faculty atrium

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with arson over a blaze within the atrium of a prestigious London Catholic faculty.

The teenager was arrested following a fireplace on the prestigious 160-year-old faculty in west London, favoured by politicians together with Tony Blair and Nick Clegg.

Firefighters have been known as to the blaze on the London Oratory School, which admits boys aged seven to 18 and women aged 16 to 18, on Seagrave Road in Fulham at 10am on Wednesday.

He will seem in custody at Highbury Youth Court in a while Friday.

The atrium, which consists of 4 school rooms and a library, was added to the college in 2016. All the books within the library have reportedly been broken within the blaze.

The teenager, who can’t be named for authorized causes, is claimed to be a ‘pupil’ on the faculty, which caters for 1,400 college students. 

The fireplace was introduced underneath management and no accidents have been reported, however a part of an atrium within the four-storey constructing was broken by fireplace, the London Fire Brigade stated.
