NS&I shares key purpose Premium Bonds winnings do not arrive

NS&I defined why some Premium Bonds winnings have not come by way of.

A buyer, who had not acquired their winnings from the November and January draw, reached out to NS&I on Twitter/X saying: “No money has been put in my account and I have not received any cheques. I have recently moved and I’m not sure what address is on my account.”

In response, NS&I suggested: “Good afternoon. Thanks for getting in touch, are you able to log in online through our website and check your details?,” The buyer replied: “No I’m unsure what my NS&I number is and have tried to recover it but no email has come through to reset it.”

According to Birmingham Live, NS&I then advised: “OK. Please call us on 08085 007 007 and we will be able to assist you with obtaining your NS&I number. Lex” They additional defined: “In most cases, people don’t receive their Premium Bonds winnings because their details aren’t up to date.”

The spokesperson added: “Winners of Premium Bonds prizes are notified when they win, but sometimes customers relocate or update their contact information without informing NS&I. This can result in unclaimed prizes, particularly if they’ve chosen to receive their prizes by cheque.

“The quickest means for patrons to obtain their prizes is to have them paid robotically into their financial institution or reinvested into extra Premium Bonds.”

The group explained that more than 90% of rewards are handled in this manner because it’s quicker and safer than dispatching a cheque.

The NS&I draws occur each month. However, the prize fund rate is set to be reduced by NS&I in March, disappointing consumers and those who regularly purchase Premium Bonds in hopes of winning a massive windfall.
