Jurgen Klopp has been fined colossal six-figure quantity for run-ins with referees
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has racked up a hefty sum in fines due to his numerous clashes with Premier League officials.
The German’s successful stint at Liverpool concludes on Sunday (May 19) as he manages his final match against Wolves, marking the end of the 2023/24 season.
Alongside the trophies and unforgettable moments, his contentious rapport with officials has consistently added drama throughout his nine-year spell in Merseyside, reports the Mirror.

The 56-year-old has been slapped with charges by the Football Association four times, resulting in a whopping £158,000 in fines with three of these cases arising from disputes he had with referees.
One such charge followed Liverpool’s exhilarating 1-0 victory over Manchester City in October 2022. Klopp was livid that a foul wasn’t awarded after Mohamed Salah’s shirt was forcefully pulled by Bernardo Silva. The German confronted assistant Gary Beswick, shouting at him from just inches away.

Klopp’s conduct was described as having “aggression” by the FA’s subsequent investigation, who quoted him screaming “How could you not? How could you not? ” at Beswick for failing to award Liverpool a foul. Among his refereeing adversaries, Paul Tierney stands out as having had a significant dispute with Klopp during the latter years of his Liverpool tenure.
The German gaffer was caught on camera venting: “I have no problems with any referees, only you” at Tierney after a heated 2-2 draw with Spurs back in December 2021, where Andy Robertson saw red for a wild challenge on Emerson Royal.
Things between Klopp and Tierney turned even frostier, if that’s possible, when the Liverpool manager bagged himself a yellow card and a hamstring strain celebrating profusely during the Reds’ nail-biting 4-3 victory over Tottenham last year.

Klopp legged it to fourth official John Brooks after Jota banged in the winning goal. The 56-year-old is said to have barked at Brooks: “Without you, without you”, implying his team clinched the win despite the match officials. His shenanigans landed him a two-match touchline ban and lightened his wallet by £75,000.
As Klopp’s time at Anfield ticks away, he’ll likely be chuffed to bits to put his rocky run-ins with the refs to bed after Sunday’s game.
