Teacher Rebecca Joynes’ sufferer ‘sacrificed 18 months to be with a paedophile’
The testimony of one of the two young boys at the centre of paedo teacher Rebecca Joynes’ trial revealed how he feels he “sacrificed 18 months to be with a paedophile”.
The former teacher was on trial at Manchester Crown Court for the last two weeks and has been found guilty of four counts of sexual activity with a child, and two counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust.
The court heard how Joynes groomed her first victim, referred to as Boy A, by buying him a £345 Gucci designer belt and inviting him to her former flat where they had sex twice. She then “had a baby” with a second pupil, referred to as Boy B, while on bail over sex with the first boy.

Inside her apartment after her arrest officers found rose petals, handwritten notes, a birthday card for the second teen and a baby grow. But while the details of her actions have shocked a nation, it is what Boy B found while he was once in the flat that left him shocked – and it was also the moment he realised he “wasted 18 months” of his life with her, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Just after his 16th birthday, Boy B told his parents he was going to go and watch Manchester United play at Old Trafford with a mate. Instead, he sold his ticket and went to Joynes’ flat. They had sex, the court heard. He said: “I was nervous about it – most of the time, we ended up having sex.”
During the time period of her relationship, she was already out on bail for a relationship with Boy A, and was supposed to be banned from spending time with anyone under 18 without supervision.
This, Boy B claims, was something he didn’t know. And while walking around her flat, he found the court file about Boy A and had seen pictures of the CCTV from Selfridges when she bought him the Gucci belt. “She said Boy A was a ‘f***ing liar, he knows he is lying as well’.”
Joynes called Boy A a “cocky pr**k”. Boy B said: “I wanted to end it. She asked for my location on Snapchat and my password. I think she was emotionally abusing me. It was mental warfare for me.”
He expressed his love for Joynes but admitted she used to threaten him whenever he tried to break up. He said: “Towards the end I pretty much went bipolar. It’s such a relief not having to worry about messaging someone or watching my words.
“When I was in it, I knew what it was, I knew it was wrong. She is really deceiving, really pretty, really smart, funny. I would say ‘you are a f***ing weirdo’, you’re a n*nce basically, go find someone your own age.
“Then I would calm down and feel bad and go back. I realise I sacrificed 18 months to be with a paedophile.
“I loved her and didn’t want to pressure her to get rid of it (the baby”. It’s my own fault. We were irresponsible and didn’t use protection and she got pregnant. The child hasn’t asked to be conceived. I just thought ‘what the f**k am I going to do?’.”
She is due to be sentenced in July.
