- Ethan Conway, 24, from Wales, had staked £219 on the final scores of 3 games
- He cashed out in the 73rd minute of the Man Utd game when the score was 1-0
A Liverpool fan missed out on winning a whopping £800,000 football bet – after he cashed out just minutes too early.
Ethan Conway, 24, from Wales, had staked £219 on the final scores of three games on the final day of the 2023-24 Premier League season on Sunday.
The scaffolder correctly predicted the results for Brighton 0-2 Manchester United, Liverpool 2-0 Wolves, and Sheffield United 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur.
But he cashed out for £5,130 when Diago Dalot scored the first goal for Manchester United in the 73rd minute of the game.
However, this was before Rasmus Højlund nabbed a second in the 88th minute – making the final score 2-0 as Ethan had predicted.

Ethan, who initially thought he was having a good day, would have won an incredible £814,000 on the 3717/1 bet if he had waited just a few minutes more.
Ethan, from Mountain Ash, South Wales, said: ‘I was just tamping [Welsh word for furious] really.
‘Just heartbroken – disbelief if anything.
‘I was looking at new cars, new houses, but obviously it’s a different story now. My family and friends were in disbelief as well.
‘But obviously they’re happy that I won the five grand.’
Punter Ethan bets on matches most weekends – but this is the first time he won as much as £5,000.
He has now said there is now ‘no chance’ he’ll be betting again anytime soon as he wants to save the money.
Ethan added: ‘I just had a rough guess and it just came in. Just pure luck.
‘I’ve come out of it now. I’ve just won that and run.
‘I’ll have to get over this one first. It’s just the 50/50 chance of it – you either cash out or you don’t. I’m just gutted really.’
