Brits fume at financial institution vacation combined bag with tremendous heatwave forecast
Brits hankering for the bank holiday long weekend are fuming over a chaotic weather forecast.
In typical spring fashion, the weather across the bank holiday looks set to be fickle, with unpredictable conditions throughout the long weekend and lingering until June.
Although summer starts on June 21 on the astronomical calendar, or on June 1 going by the meteorological one, the end of May can often bring a hit of summery weather for a treat.

No such luck this year, a the Met Office predicts bank holiday weather will be a mixed bag, with sunshine, showers, and stretches of rain on the cards.
It forecasts Saturday will have the best weather across the three-day weekend. It’s expected to remain dry for most of the day across the UK, with temperatures reaching the low 20s in parts of the southeast.
Sunday will also see sun, although this is expected to be mixed up with scattered heavy rain, and in some places, thundery downpours.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said that this might lead to roads being temporarily flooded in some parts of the UK.
He added that Scotland and Northern Ireland are most likely to see rain and cloud, which could lead to heavy showers breaking out, and bringing similar wintery conditions to England and Wales.
Harris said bank holiday Monday is expected to be “brighter, cooler and breezier” with scattered showers for England and Wales at first, followed by dryer conditions.
Scotland and northeast England can expect to be hit by slow moving and heavy rain, which again could cause temporary issues.
Folk took to X to express their disappointment with the forecast.
One angry Brit raged: “The weather for this bank holiday is shocking. I feel like the government should reconsider having an extra bank holiday for late June or early July.”
Another social media user wrote: “What a bank holiday weather map for Norfolk. Grim”, while another lamented that while she had hoped to garden on Sunday and Monday, “the weather suggests doing the opposite”.
Another Brit moaned: “Out of office turned on for 5 whole days. Just need some lovely bank holiday weather now! Uh..”
Capricious weather is predicted to carry through into June, until a “super heat wave” kicks summer off.
Daily Star reports a possible African Plume could hit the UK in early to mid June, raising temperatures above 30C in parts, and high 20s elsewhere. The Express reports this hot weather could arrive by as early as June 8.
However, these summery conditions are predicted to only last for a few weeks before the UK enters a “no-man’s land” weather-wise.
James Madden of Exacta Weather explained: “All good things must come to an unfortunate end, and the prospect could be a bit more unsettled to indifferent for our weather type as we sort of end up in a no man’s land for the weather and also when the jet stream takes a more southerly route across our shores at times from around late June and prior to any potential super heatwave in July.”
