Kate Middleton shares date of giant return to public life – and it is actually quickly

Kate Middleton has announced she will be attending Trooping the Colour after revealing she’s making “good progress” from her cancer diagnosis but is “not out of the woods yet.”

Tonight, the Princess of Wales released a personal message to the nation for the first time since revealing her cancer ordeal and admitted she has “good days and bad days.”

The 42-year-old said she is still undergoing preventative chemotherapy and will be for months to come. But a Palace source said she is “doing well” and “very much looking forward to being with her family” during the King’s birthday parade tomorrow, where she is expected to appear on Buckingham Palace balcony alongside her family.

Speculation mounted as to whether Kate would be present at the Trooping the Colour as she did not attend the Colonel’s Review on June 8 – which is the traditional rehearsal for the Sovereign’s official birthday parade this weekend.

The palace released a new picture of Kate looking radiant beneath a tree in the grounds of Windsor taken earlier this week.

She said in a personal message: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.

“It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting.

“But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.”

She added: “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.

“Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal. Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

The Princess stepped back from royal duties after sharing her bombshell news in March and has not been seen in public since.

The palace statement added: “His Majesty is delighted that the Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day.”

King Charles III who has also been undergoing treatment for cancer, will see a change to his usual routine in London tomorrow. Instead of riding on horseback to inspect the troops, the monarch will travel in an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla.

Kate will travel in a state carriage with her children and will then watch the parade from the Major General’s Office with the rest of the family before joining them on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Trooping the Colour is the annual military parade marking the reigning British monarch’s official birthday.
