Kevin Campbell’s final Instagram selfie incorporates heartbreaking three phrases

A brief but powerful message on Kevin Campbell’s last Instagram post has emerged following the Arsenal and Everton icon’s tragic death.

The popular ex-striker passed away aged 54 on June 15. Earlier this month, news broke stating that Campbell was fighting a severe illness, sparking torrents of well-wishes from former teammates, friends and family.

Sadly, a statement from Arsenal confirmed his tragic passing, two weeks after news about his illness was first released to the football world. As supporters continue to cherish many joyous memories of the striker, a caption under his last Instagram post was picked up by fans.

In March 2023, Campbell posted an image of himself with products from a health food and beverage company. His caption read: “I have got it thanks Earthborn Naturals. Health is Wealth.”

It’s the closing section of his caption that had fans devastated. Besides being a stellar player, Campbell was also a renowned personality who regularly featured on podcasts and chat shows, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Tributes flooded in on social media networks following his untimely death. Everton was among the initial ones to share their condolences in a statement that read: “While today is truly a sad day for football, Kevin will be remembered as a man who brought happiness, laughter and smiles everywhere he went.

“A giant of a man with heart and humour, he played each game with passion. He was special and made special moments on and off the pitch.”

Everton and England icon Wayne Rooney, who shared the pitch with Campbell during his early days at Goodison Park, paid his respects, saying: “Absolutely devastated to hear the news about Kev. Thinking of all his family and friends. Kev was a great team mate but more importantly a brilliant person who helped me a lot in my earlier years.”

Campbell’s standout season at Goodison Park was in 1999 when he joined Everton on loan amidst a relegation scrap. His debut came in April, but he quickly became a fan favourite by smashing in nine goals in five games, securing Everton’s Premier League status.

Campbell was an extremely popular figure

Over his time with Everton, Campbell notched up 51 goals in 164 appearances. His football journey kicked off at Arsenal in 1987, followed by loan stints at Leyton Orient and Leicester City, racking up 210 appearances for the Gunners, with 55 goals and 20 assists to his name.

After leaving Arsenal, Campbell signed for Nottingham Forest in 1994, spending four seasons there before a move to Trabzonspor in Turkey in 1998.

Less than a year later, he would make the switch to Everton, sealing his status as a club legend, and eventually winding down his career with spells at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City.
