Amateur sleuths glued to lacking Jay Slater webcam ready for clues to seem

Sleuths are glued to a live webcam showing a mountain road in Tenerife where missing teenager Jay Slater was last seen.

The webcam has become a focal point in the search for the 19-year-old. It shows a view of a winding road in a mountainous area around the village of Masca near Jay’s last known whereabouts.

One member of the Jay Slater Missing Facebook group said: “I’ve edited the timelapse and slowed down any/all activity.

“I can’t take my eyes off the Masca webcam. Been staring at it for hours thinking he’s just gonna dander down them steps. Stranger things have happened.”

A major search operation is ­under way on the Spanish island, with police dogs, mountain rescue teams, helicopters and drones all on the hunt.

Growing numbers of Jay’s family and friends are also flying out to join the search efforts.

The apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancs, was last heard from on Monday when he called his friend Lucy Law.

Rachel Louise Harg, the administrator of the Facebook page, said family and friends of the youngster were in a “living nightmare”.
