Chess set producer denies turning Queen piece right into a bloke with ‘sq. jaw’
One of the world’s leading chess set makers is being accused of giving its “sexy” Queen piece a blokey makeover.
Raging players say the key piece on DGT’s new game board has been slapped with a prominent “man jaw” – and have blamed the update on the rise in political correctness.
One chess fanatic raged on X: “This is an atrocious tragedy and a blatant attack on our game. They took our beautiful, sexy, and feminine Queen and gave her a blocky and defined man jaw.”

But manufacturers have hit back at the accusation, saying they have “no idea” what critics are seeing.
Piece designer Dirk Jansen blasted: “When we first heard them we thought it was a prank but apparently these people are serious.
“We wanted to update our pieces and we thought this new Queen design was more striking but equally sexy.
“There are tons of real-life women we based this design on.
“Nobody made us change the Queen piece.”
Another outraged chess fan, posting online under the handle KingMe69, seethed: “Why would they do this? The Queen in the old set was an iconic sex symbol.
“She had poise and grace, a nice soft face. Now she’s much more striking with a defined square jawline like a man.”
DGT – whose chess boards are selling for more than £1,000 online – have stressed there is absolutely no “conspiracy” behind the Queen update and have said they are being bombarded with “threatening messages” over the redesign.
