More international locations warn ‘don’t journey to UK’ as violence at ‘harmful proportions’

The rioting across the UK has seen two more countries advise against travelling to the UK – one of which is currently in a state of a 15-year-long insurgency.

The United Kingdom has been plagued by rioting, looting, violence and even arson over the last four days, as far-right gangs and opposition rioters take to the streets. More than 400 arrests have been made country-wide following violent outbreaks, as self-proclaimed anti-immigration demonstrators assembled in various locations including Bolton, Lancaster, Middlesborough, Weymouth, Rotherham and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Gangs opposing them also took to the streets in areas such as Bolton, as police struggled to quell the chaos around the country. And now it seems as though the rest of the world has noticed – as Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a COBRA meeting yesterday in an attempt to deal with the chaos . . . with very little impact.

Yesterday, Malaysia and Australia both advised against travelling to the UK, with the US and Switzerland updating their travel advice to advise caution. And now two more have joined in – Nigeria and Indonesia.

Despite being in a war with terror group Boko Haram, which saw 18 killed in a suicide bombing on a wedding last month, Nigeria officials warned its locals to avoid the UK because “the violence has assumed dangerous proportions”.

A spokesman said: “Demonstrations by far right and other extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK in recent weeks have been large, and in some instances unruly.”

And the Indonesian embassy in the UK posted a warning on Instagram urging its nationals to consider “the urgency and increase vigilance, especially if you have to travel or do activities outside the home”.

They added: “Follow the instructions and directions of local authorities, and continue to monitor communications on social media at the Indonesian Embassy in London and the local Indonesian citizen community:

“Avoid large crowds and places that have the potential to become gathering places for masses or groups of demonstrators.”

And although they are not telling people not to travel, official advice from Swiss officials states: “The country is stable. However, caution is advised if you are near a demonstration, as acts of violence are possible. Regular strikes can cause disruption and delays to tourist traffic.”

Over the weekend, Australia also got in on the act, updating its advice to state that travellers need to “exercise a high degree of caution in the UK due to the threat of terrorism.”
