Football never really went away, did it?

A few short weeks after England’s heartbreaking defeat the hands of Spain in the Euro 2024 final, club football is back with a bang. Can we call the Community Shield a bang? With the ongoing discourse about it as a competition.

Either way, try telling that to Manchester City or Manchester United who can get their hands on the first, unofficial, silverware of the season on Saturday afternoon. And Daily Star Sport has a look at where you can watch the showpiece.

What is the team news?

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is seen during Manchester United v Rangers - Pre-Season Friendly at BT Murrayfield Stadium on July 20, 2024 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Erik ten Hag already has an injury crisis on his hands

The season hasn’t even kicked off yet and Erik ten Hag is already facing an injury crisis. The Dutchman may well have been over the moon while welcoming back Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo – but he’ll be without Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Leny Yoro, who both picked up long-term injuries.

Pep Guardiola will be without Ederson due to some “niggles” and Rico Lewis, who was forced off in the Chelsea victory. Rodri, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker and John Stones are also likely to be unavailable – but we could see Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva return, as well as new signing Savinho.
