Christina Aguilera’s colour-coordinated weight loss plan helped her lose virtually three stone
The colourful diet of global superstar Christina Aguilera has been credited with helping her shed almost three stone in weight over the years. Like most people, the 43-year-old singer has experienced some weight fluctuations over the years. The mum-of-one previously said she “hated being super skinny” and is instead focused on being healthy and “embracing” her body.
Although her weight increased following the birth of her son and during her divorce from music composer Jordan Bratman, she has since shed the pounds again. It is reported she lost almost three stone in weight by sticking to a colour-coordinated diet as well as restricting her calorie intake.
More recently her svelte figure caused a stir when she opened up her Las Vegas residency in December 2023. It was reported at the time that the Beautiful singer had lost more than 40 pounds (or 18 kilos) in weight over the years.
According to Hello magazine, Christina lost 40lbs in 2013 by restricting her daily food intake to 1,600 calories. She also followed something called the “rainbow diet”.
This diet prioritises plant-based foods and involves eating brightly coloured fruits and vegetables every day, including sweet potato, broccoli, mango, blueberries, tomatoes, and peppers. This diet is backed as a healthy way of eating experts at Harvard University. They commented: “Did you know that adding colour to your meals will help you live a longer, healthier life? Colourful fruits and vegetables can paint a beautiful picture of health because they contain phytonutrients, compounds that give plants their rich colours as well as their distinctive tastes and aromas.”
Since then Christina has reportedly relaxed her eating habits. Now she is more focused on consuming clean, whole foods and limiting sugar.
In 2020 she told L’Officiel Italia that she had stopped dieting. “I’m not going on a diet, get over it,” she said. She added: “Each of us is an individual and people judge you based on your differences, on what makes you unique. You have to accept that beauty and to hell with everything else.”
Christina also likes to stay very active and do a wide-ranging workout routine to keep fit. According to In Touch Weekly, she enjoys yoga, boxing, strength training as well as cardio exercises and will workout two to five times a week.
But earlier this year Christina became the latest celeb accursed of turning to weight loss drug Ozempic to stay slim. A video posted online by a fan of one of Christina’s concerts had people speculating about how she had lost weight again.
One person commented: “Wish I could be on Ozempic like everyone else, too, but afraid of the side effects.”
While another said: “Ozempic ages everyone terribly but it’s honestly working wonders for her. She looks incredible.”
Sold in the UK as Wegovy, Ozempic is only available for weight loss on the NHS if prescribed by a specialist weight management clinic.
To lose weight the NHS recommends you:
