New Banksy artwork noticed at London Zoo as followers say it is his ‘finest one but’
A ninth piece from the elusive artist Banksy has made an appearance in London, with reports suggesting that the artist was spotted in the city earlier today.
The Bristol-based artist’s murals have been popping up across the city for the past eight days, with a new piece unveiled each day since August 5. The previous eight were confirmed by Banksy himself around 1pm on the day they were revealed and it appears that he has confirmed the latest one on his Instagram.
Today’s artwork graces a white shutter at London Zoo and depicts a gorilla lifting its base to free birds and a seal. “Every day is getting better!” one fan said, while another added it is the artist’s “best yet”.

“My favourite so far! Loving the daily reveals,” a third said.
This follows another piece showing a rhino climbing onto a silver Nissan Micra with a traffic cone on its bonnet, which was vandalised by a man wearing a black balaclava just hours after it was displayed.
The day before, piranhas were painted onto a police sentry box, which was subsequently removed from near London’s Old Bailey court for preservation, reports the Mirror.
The anonymous artist seems to have used translucent spray paint to transform the box into a giant fish tank for the piece, which appeared on Ludgate Hill before being cordoned off by the local council.
The glass-paned box will be temporarily housed in the City of London Corporation’s offices, a short walk of less than 15 minutes from its original location.
A spokesperson for the authority commented: “We have moved the artwork to Guildhall Yard to ensure it is properly protected and open for the public to view safely. A permanent home for the piece will be decided in due course.”
Banksy’s latest art attack kicked off in Kew Bridge, south-west London, last Monday with a cheeky goat perched on top of a wall. This was just the start as silhouettes of elephants, monkeys, a wolf, pelicans, and a cat have since popped up on buildings and objects all over London.
The sixth instalment, featuring a stretching cat on a battered advertising hoarding, was ripped from its spot in north-west London mere hours after making its Saturday debut.
Onlookers were gutted, jeering as the Cricklewood piece was carted off by three blokes claiming they were “hired” by a “contracting company” to nick the billboard for safety reasons. The crafty cat was the second Banksy to vanish last week, following a howling wolf that was snatched from a Peckham rooftop satellite dish less than an hour post-reveal.
A rep for Banksy said the artist wasn’t involved in the pilfering of the wolf piece, admitting they’re clueless about where the dish has gone.
The fifth piece by the elusive artist was unveiled on Bonners Fish Bar in Walthamstow, East London. It features a pelican bending down to nab a fish from the takeaway’s sign, while another is seen tossing one up in the air.
