Prince Harry makes ‘Elon Musk dig over Southport riots’ – and angers William

Prince Harry spoke out and warned of the dangers of false information being spread online and seemed to take a swipe at billionaire Elon Musk.

The Duke of Sussex made a reference to the recent riots sweeping across the UK, triggered from a mass stabbing which took place in Southport. The 39-year-old royal spoke at the Responsible Digital Future forum in Bogota, Colombia. He and Meghan Markle, 43, are currently touring the country.

Reported the Mirror, he said: “What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets. People are acting on information that isn’t true. It comes down to all of us to be able to spot the true from the fake,”

“In an ideal world those with positions of influence would take more responsibility. We are no longer debating facts. For as long as people are allowed to spread lies, abuse, harass, then social cohesion as we know it has completely broken down.”

Harry’s comments may be considered a swipe at billionaire social media owner Elon Musk, who has been accused of raking in profits while allowing X users to use lies to incite violence on Britain’s streets. They came after multiple posts falsely claiming the suspect was a Muslim asylum seeker.

Harry and Meghan will today (August 16) continue their tour with more engagements in Bogota, including a visit to an educational institution and a meet up with Team Colombia’s Invictus Games team.

Prince William, however, is reportedly seething over Harry and Meghan’s jaunt to Colombia, a Royal commentator has claimed. The Sussexes have jetted off to the South American nation following an invitation from its Vice-President Francia Marquez. Their four-day sojourn will see them engaging with community members and participating in a music event.

Labelled by some as a “faux royal tour” Royal pundit Tom Quinn suggested that Prince William is irked by the parallels drawn and is keen to publicly refute the trip’s legitimacy, reports the Mirror US.

Quinn revealed: “The practical issue for King Charles and Prince William is how they should react if there was no risk that it would make things worse, William would like to issue a statement reminding everyone that Meghan and Harry’s tour of Columbia is not in any way officially sanctioned, but his father King Charles is steadfast in his belief that silence is the best response.”

“King Charles’ communications team will certainly agree with him ignoring what Meghan and Harry do is now seen as vital to avoid giving them further publicity. Increasingly, Meghan and Harry are referred to as the outlaw royals.”

Quinn also opined that the Colombian escapade could jeopardise any potential reconciliation within the Royal Family. He said: “Arranging these fake Royal tours will make any chance of a reconciliation between Harry and his family even more remote.”

“In fact, King Charles and Prince William see the tour very much as Harry sticking two fingers up at Royal protocol and family feelings.”
