Hotpants-wearing mum pulls up at struggle to assist daughter smash nemesis’ face in

A bus stop fight between two high school students took a bizarre turn when one of the girls’ mums jumped in – only to get smacked in the face with a Stanley cup.

Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office were called to a bus stop in Daytona North, Florida, on August 15 after tensions from a summer friendship fallout boiled over into the school year.

According to cops, two teenage girls stepped off the bus and agreed to settle their differences with a fight. The confrontation was caught on video and later shared by the sheriff’s office, showing how things escalated when a parent got involved.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.

In the footage, 34-year-old Kathryn Stephanopoulos is seen jumping into the brawl, even putting one of the students in a headlock. “Yo, not the mom!” a student can be heard saying in disbelief.

During the scuffle, Stephanopoulos’ daughter started a second fight with another student who had tried to break up the initial clash. After that fight ended, the child turned on the mum, hitting her in the face with a metal cup.

“Did she just hit her with a Stanley cup?” a student asked in the video. “Yes, she did,” another student confirmed. “That’s crazy!” the first student responded.

Stephanopoulos was arrested and taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility for her role in the fight. One juvenile was also arrested for aggravated battery, and misdemeanour charges against the other juvenile were forwarded to the state attorney’s office.

“Instead of deescalating the situation, we have a mother who jumped into the fray, setting a terrible example for her child and everyone at the bus stop,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “She certainly won’t be winning mother of the year with these actions.

“Parents need to set an example and not add to the problem. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but now a mother is facing serious charges for losing control of her temper.”
