Jermaine Jenas admits to ‘inappropriate’ texts however provides ‘I did nothing unlawful’
Jermaine Jenas has admitted to sending ‘inappropriate’ messages to several women, spurred on by a ‘self-destructive streak’, in a tell-all chat with the Sun.
The 41-year-old, who presented The One Show and appeared on Match of the Day, had his contract terminated by the corporation this week. The BBC received a complaint about text messages sent by the presenter last month, and launched a probe, the Mirror reported.
It has transpired that the former England player has been sacked over claims of unsolicited inappropriate texts involving a female employee of The One Show, the publication stated.

And The Mirror reported today, August 23, that the former midfielder had abused his position by sending “suggestive” messages to junior staff on The One Show.
Jenas, in a chat with the Sun has since said he “did nothing illegal — these were inappropriate messages between two consenting adults”.
He added: “I am ashamed, and I am deeply sorry.
“I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology — especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry.
“I am sorry for what I have put them through.
“I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self- sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.”
He conceded that he has ‘made a lot of mistakes’ and said he will be booking in therapy to tackle his problems.
“Before any of this became public, I saw my private doctor and after a long discussion, booked in for therapy to try and address these issues, where they stem from, and why I have been doing this and hurting the people I love,” he said.
