Iconic UK excessive road model saved – however shops stay closed for good
Major UK high street favourite Ted Baker has been saved from total oblivion – but all 46 closed stores will remain shuttered.
Earlier this month, the Daily Star reported how reported how all 46 stores would close after it went into administration earlier this year. Administrators were unable to find a way to solve the issues within the business, and all stores and concessions closed for good last week.
Fashion investment company PDS bought the Ted Baker Design group in 2023 and had kept its London office open despite making cuts to staff numbers.

It was thought that the Frasers Group would try to save it, but that failed at the final hour.
In an email sent to store staff last month, the administrators said: “We are sorry to have shared such difficult news. However, we want to emphasise again that this outcome is no reflection of the amazing work and support you have provided these last four months.”
However, the brand name has been saved and it will re-open as an online-only retailer. According to Sky News, Ted Baker’s owners Authentic has reached an agreement with United Legwear and Apparel Co (ULAC) to keep an e-commerce presence in the UK and Europe.
Jarrod Weber, global president for sports and lifestyle at Authentic, said: “Consumers value and appreciate the Ted Baker brand and its British style. We have had a strong start to our partnership with United Legwear and we couldn’t be more pleased to have solid partner to continue Ted Baker’s story in the place where the brand began.
“United Legwear’s proven track record in translating global brands for the UK market makes them the ideal partner for expanding Ted Baker’s online presence in these important markets.”
And Chris Volpe, chief operating officer of United Legwear, said: “Our goal is to create a seamless and engaging online shopping experience that exceeds the expectations of Ted Baker’s customers.”
