Inside UK’s most distant pub the place folks stroll three days simply to have a drink

A far-flung pub only accessible by tackling either a whopping seven-mile voyage across the sea or an 18-mile hike amidst the grandeur of the Scottish Highlands is proving poopular amongst hardy drinkers.

No roads lead to the boozer tucked away in Inverie village on the stunning west coast of Scotland. The pub nestles peacefully beside a placid sea loch.

The much-loved Old Forge pub, owned by the community, is often dubbed “one of the last wildernesses” due to its impressive remoteness.

With the towering might of the Knoydart peninsula’s peaks and Loch Nevis’s scenic waters forming Inverie’s breathtaking land meets sea vista, the journey alone is a photographer’s dream.

The hardy souls eager enough to brave the nearly 15-hour slog from Glenfinnan all the way to Inverie are warmly welcomed at The Old Forge, a pub that rightfully claims “worth the journey” as its slogan, reports the Express.

Dundee duo Ally Turner and Glynis Mattheisen detailed their gruelling three-day escapade battling “atrocious” weather to BBC Radio Scotland, yet admitted the destination’s charm made every squelchy step worthwhile. “The weather was atrocious but it made it well worth it in the end,” Glynis revealed.

“It’s one of the last wildernesses and it feels very special when you finish that journey.”

Last year, hearty locals gathered their collective might to scrape together a jaw-dropping £1 million from well-wishers and funding pots, breathing new life into their favourite haunt.

Glynis shared: “It’s just a nice story, and it’s a special community.”

With the winds of change came a focus on kindling the flame of live gigs, with summer nights at The Old Forge turning into musical marathons as up to 20 musicians rally round for a strum and a song till the wee hours.
