Princess Sofia of Sweden pregnant with fourth youngster, palace publicizes

Princess Sofia of Sweden is pregnant with her fourth child, the Swedish Royal Household has announced.

Prince Carl Philip‘s wife, 39, is ‘doing well’ and the baby is due in February 2025, according to the palace’s statement, which was shared to the Royal Family‘s Instagram account this afternoon.

The couple, who married in 2015, already have three sons, Prince Alexander, seven, Prince Gabriel, five, and two-year-old Prince Julian.

Carl Philip, 45, is the only son and second child of Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. His older sister Princess Victoria, 47, is the heir to the Swedish throne and he is currently fourth in the line of succession.

A statement shared by the Swedish Royal Household read: ‘Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have the great pleasure to announce that the Princess is expecting the couple’s fourth child.

‘Princess Sofia is doing well and the birth is expected in February 2025. No changes are expected in Princess Sofia’s official program during the autumn.’

The statement was shared alongside a sweet photograph of the couple, with Carl Philip smiling at the camera, while his wife leaned her head on his face. The background featured a stunning lake and several mountains.

Over the weekend, the couple attended the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett on Saturday.

Princess Sofia linked arms with her husband Prince Carl Phillip as she arrived at the lavish event wearing a flowing ombre yellow dress.

Sofia oozed elegance in the sweeping long-sleeve silk gown with a nipped waist by Swedish fashion designer Lilli Jahilo.

The dress’s bright, warm colour and long sleeves were a fitting choice for the chilly summer day in the Norwegian town of Geiranger where temperatures averaged only 14C.

Sofia was seen carrying a fluffy white jumper under her arm into the wedding ceremony in case she needed an extra layer of warmth.

She paired the vibrant dress with a pair of nude platform pumps by Gianvito Rossi and a pale gold Susan Szatmary Port Doré Clutch.

Peeking out from her long brown tresses which were pulled back in a half-up do were a pair of $24,000 earrings from Copenhagen jeweller Ole Lynggaard.

Sofia added an extra touch of sparkle to her stylish ensemble with a €5,700 Bigli jewels ring on her left middle finger.

This isn’t the first time the Swedish princess has worn the Lilli Jahilo gown. No stranger to outfit repeating, Sofia also wore the ombre outfit back in December 2022 for the Nobel Laureates Dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Princess Sofia was one of 350 guests at the wedding of Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise, 52 to Durek Verrett, 49, who claims to be a sixth-generation shaman from California.

Märtha Louise and Princess Sofia have been good friends for years thanks to the close-knit relationship between the Swedish and Norwegian royal houses.

The newly weds tied the knot in the picturesque Geiranger, one of Norway’s major tourist attractions located on a fjord with stunning views.

Guests left the marriage ceremony tent shortly after 3pm local time, walking along a red carpet to the nearby hotel reception.
