Inside John Terry’s Football Manager obsession as he makes shock look
Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed he used to be obsessed with Football Manager and even played it on the way to Premier League games during his career.
The 43-year-old hung up his boots back in 2018 after a glittering spell at boyhood club Chelsea where he lifted five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and the Champions League.
Terry had a brief coaching stint at both Aston Villa and Leicester City post retirement and has also worked in the media. In his latest venture, the former England defender entered the world of sports gaming by appearing as an official ambassador at a FIFAe Next Gen event in Liverpool.

The Liverpool Exhibition Centre hosted the inaugural FIFAe World Cup featuring Football Manager last week with a gaming duo from Indonesia picking up the top prize presented by Terry. He offered insight to various players at the event and was even persuaded to briefly play a game of Football Manager.
In a video posted by well-known streamer TomFM, Terry randomly appeared in game as the host of the Champions League draw. Given he happened to be appearing in real life at the event, they decided to get him involved.

The Blues icon sat down with the streamers and played the role perfectly wishing “good luck to all the teams involved” and revealing the obsession he used to have with the game when he was younger. “I used to play it like every day honestly growing up, I used to play it on the way to Premier League games like back in the day,” he said.
Terry had great success as a player, and whilst it hasn’t gone to plan for him as a coach in real life, you’d hope his win rate on Football Manager is pretty high given the time he has dedicated to it.
