Massive shark swims simply toes away from beachgoers in chilling ‘Jaws’ second
This is the jaw-dropping moment a giant shark lurked just feet away from the shore of a bustling Irish beach.
Captured at Keem Bay on Achill Island, County Mayo, the clip reveals a basking shark’s massive fins breaking through the waves alarmingly close to youngsters. Gasps of “Oh my God,” were heard as it glided by.
And as the beast edged towards the sand, a second set of fins surfaced, amping up the shock factor with the realisation there wasn’t just one shark nearby.

Despite the fact that basking sharks are only plankton munchers and pose no threat to us, their mammoth size can still cause a bit of a scare when they rock up by the coastline.
Coming in as the world’s second-biggest shark, these impressive fish often grow to 7.9 meters when fully grown.
The viral video capturing this scary scenario first popped up on TikTok but soon exploded on Twitter thanks to Alan O’Neills share, racking up views in the hundreds of thousands since 2021.
Alan captioned the heart-pounding footage: “This is like a scene from Jaws,”.
Viewers watching were stunned.
One person questioned: “Why are there still children in the water? ” adding: “Or should I ask why there are still snack sized humans in the water? FFS!”
Another wrote: “This is an unpredictable situation regardless of if it looks harmless. Get the hell out of the water.”
However, many have noted that the locals were aware they were safe to stay in the water.
This isn’t the first instance of footage featuring enormous basking sharks going viral.
In May 2021, a sighting even led to wild speculation that the prehistoric megalodon shark was still alive after one such creature was seen near a cruise ship.
