While competing in the BBC game show, Jeff and Freddy enjoy a meal together when conversation turned to a more serious topic.

Jeff told Freddy: ‘What you teach me is what I always need to be reminded and that is to be less serious.’ according to The Sun.

Freddy then continued, speaking to the camera he says: ‘When me and Bobby lost our mum he had a big responsibility two very young boys who were grieving an that’s not very fun.’

Freddy then replied: ‘I feel like I haven’t given myself the time to grow up because I’ve been holding on to a lot of things that happened to me as a kid.

‘I guess that’s why I’ve still got a playful side.’

Jeff said: ‘You have a wonderful nature, instantly forgiving, wonderfully care free.

‘I often describe you as a better person than me.’

His admission comes after he choked back tears last month after revealing he had ‘no memories’ of his late mum while appearing on a previous episode of Celebrity Race Across The Wold.

TV personality Jade tragically died in 2009 aged 27 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer the year before.

Freddy was just four when she died, while brother Bobby, now 21, was five.

In heartbreaking scenes paying tribute to the Big Brother star on the anniversary of her death amid their travels in Salvador Freddy opened up and made the heartbreaking admission to his tearful dad.

He said: ‘I lost my mum when I was four and that was on Mother’s Day, which is really hard. I don’t really like showing my emotions. I don’t even speak to my dad much about my mum either. I just avoid it. I prefer to bottle it up’.

‘I don’t want to feel like I’m a burden to them. A lot of my memories that I have of my mum have come from watching a documentary, YouTube clips, newspapers, they are not my memories’.

While choking back tears he continued: ‘I don’t really remember being held by my mum. If I had more memories of her, it would have made it a whole lot harder for me.

‘But I think I would rather that than not really remember the things that I had done with my mum. It’s just life really and I’ve kind of accepted that’.

Father and son later agreed to pay tribute to Jade on Mother’s Day and headed to a famous beauty spot, with Freddie saying as they searched for it: ‘Maybe Mum’s pushing us in the direction of where we need to go.’

Last month Jeff left viewers in tears as he opened up about helping his sons after Jade’s death.

In emotional scenes the father spoke candidly saying: ‘I think when the boys lost their mum I really doubled down on putting all of my time, effort, attention, focus on my children,’ Jeff said.

‘I needed to be there, helping them to navigate whatever the future was going to look like for them given their loss. And I’m still playing that role.

‘But yeah the more Fred does for himself, I know that he can start to push on in life.’
