Marcus Rashford sends message to Erik ten Hag after he challenges Man Utd star
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is keen to keep impressing Erik ten Hag after his stunning performance against Barnsley.
Fresh from scoring the first goal of the season last weekend against Southampton, Rashford continued his hot streak with a brace as Man United demolished the League One side Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup third round. Striking either side of half-time at Old Trafford, the 26-year-old helped Ten Hag’s side to a comfortable win.
Having scored United’s second in their 3-0 win over Southampton, Ten Hag likened Rashford’s breakthrough moment to coaxing the first splurt of ketchup out of the bottle, hinting at an upcoming glut of goals, reports the Mirror.

And speaking to Sky Sports, Rashford responded to Ten Hag’s comments, saying: “It’s early to say but I hope so. We’ll move on to the next game now and just rest, recover and focus on the next one.”
Rashford added: “Football is football – sometimes you have ups and, sometimes, you have downs. We have to use these games to find momentum, find consistency and try your best to bring your best level in each game.”
Ten Hag has conceded that last season for United was tough on everyone, including Rashford, who found it hard to find the back of the net. United did manage to win the FA Cup, but ended up in eighth place in the league.

And Ten Hag is counting on Rashford to produce this season so as to avoid another disappointing campaign. “In my first season, also he had this vibe and this good mood,” Ten Hag said.
“When I see Marcus Rashford, I’m composed and I’m confident that he will score. I think last season was, for everyone, difficult but, in the end, we were able to win a trophy last season, you can’t forget this.”
“But by the end, we found our targets, we hit the targets we wanted to get and this is what we aim for this season as well. We want to progress and be better, we are very ambitious, we want to go forward as a team.
“Also individual players, Marcus Rashford wants to score goals and that is what I saw. But not only Marcus Rashford, it’s the whole team and they are really hungry looking for goals.”
