Moment man ‘throttles’ bicycle owner and throws him off his bike
Police are investigating a shocking attack on a cyclist who was throttled and thrown to the floor by a raging motorist in broad daylight.
Disturbing footage showed the horrific assault taking place in Edinburgh‘s Old Town on Friday afternoon.
The video shows the 34-year-old cyclist standing in front of a white car on High School Wynd, speaking to a female passenger while the furious driver is beeping his horn.
The man on the bike appeared to be having a heated argument with the woman, who was wearing a blue hoodie and grey tracksuit bottoms.
The male driver of the vehicle then angrily stepped out of the car and marched towards the cyclist.

He then launched a terrifying assault on the cyclist, using both hands to grab his neck before throwing him to the ground.
The cyclist was left splayed out on the floor as the driver and passenger returned to the vehicle, which had a learner plate on the windscreen.
The man on the bike can be seen clutching his head after he was thrown onto the road.
Parts of his bike also exploded across the road amid the violent road rage assault.
Emergency services rushed to the cyclist’s aid – and police have confirmed they are investigating the attack.
Detectives also confirmed that he was taken to hospital to be checked over for his injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘Around 6.25pm on Friday, 20 September, 2024, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car in High School Wynd, Edinburgh.
‘The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital to be checked over and officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.’
