‘My opinion is not of the profession, it’s of the practitioner. There are all kinds of therapy. I’m sure many of them are useful to many people,’ he said.

‘I’m not anti-therapy for anybody — except for myself. I know who the f**k I am at this point.’

Shrinking series two lands on Apple TV+ on October 16.

Captain America: Brave New World

But it’s not just TV Harrison has committed to, as he continues his blockbuster work in the upcoming Marvel flick Captain America: Brave New World.

Harrison takes on the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the motion picture, set for a 2025 release, replacing late actor William Hurt – who died in March 2022, aged 71.

His character is the U.S. president in the film, before later transforming into the Red Hulk.

Harrison was asked about what it took to perform the motion capture process filmmakers use to make the transition in characters – but he went on to trash his own acting.

‘What did it take? It took not caring,’ said the Oscar-nominated actor. ‘It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.’

Speaking to Variety at Comic Con last month, the Hollywood icon said that he didn’t ‘mean to disparage’ the movie, which he ‘had a great time’ making.

‘I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do – or your acting coach, if you had one,’ he said. ‘But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it.’

Harrison’s Captain America 4 co-star Anthony Mackie, who plays Captain America/Sam Wilson in the movie, told Inverse in June last year that the veteran actor carries ‘this aura about him,’ adding, ‘He’s Harrison f***ing Ford.’

Anthony said that Harrison ‘dispels that [aura] really quickly because he’s such a cool guy’ and ‘everything a movie star should be’.

He added: ‘He would say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of s***.’ And everybody was like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this s***.’

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in cinemas on February 14, 2025.

Thunderbolts

Captain America isn’t Harrison’s only upcoming Marvel project, as he will also be in the flick Thunderbolts next year.

Harrison will reprise his role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the picture – which is set for release three months after Captain America in May, 2025.

He stars alongside English actress Florence Pugh, who returns as Yelena Belova from Marvel’s 2020 film Black Widow and the 2021 mini-series Hawkeye.

Production got under way in Atlanta in late February, and Florence took to Instagram in March to share a video from the set, revealing her character’s suit and more.

The video began with her walking out of her trailer, as she said: ‘Hey guys. How you doing? I know that I’ve kind of dropped off for a little beat, but that’s partly because I was whisked off to Atlanta to go and shoot a movie.’

She admitted, though, that she wasn’t supposed to ‘talk much about it, but I can show you some things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone.’

The film – which was directed by Jake Schreier – follows a group of supervillains recruited to go on missions for the government.

Thunderbolts is set to hit cinemas in May 2025.

Rumoured JJ Abrams project

On top of his work with Marvel, Harrison is also reportedly in talks to join filmmaker J.J. Abrams for his next directorial project.

Hollywood’s favourites of the moment Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell will lead the cast of the new film – but details of the plot are being kept under wraps.

There has also been no production start date revealed as of yet, though a rumoured synopsis said it involves a ‘young married couple struggling to survive against a supernatural entity’.

Another clue of the film’s premise said it was a ‘fantasy film with some Last Starfighter vibes’.

The project marks a return to directing features for Abrams who last helmed Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – which Harrison cameoed in.

Harrison and J.J. also worked together for his major role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
