Punter turns £20 into £50k with ninety fifth and 96th minute targets in wager of the season

An English punter has stunned the betting world by turning £20 into £50,000 thanks to a 15-game accumulator – and a few last-minute equalisers.

Ladbrokes have revealed a London customer correctly predicted both teams would score across 15 games in Europe on Saturday, at combined odds of 2483/1. This slip has been described as the ‘bet of the season’, with two equalisers deep into injury time ensuring that the pay-out was a life-changing five-figure sum.

While 13 of the games landed relatively easily, the clever punter had to wait anxiously for an equaliser in the 95th minute in the Southampton vs Ipswich game – scored by Tractor Boys captain Sam Morsy – to keep the dream alive heading into the Saturday night games.

However, the drama continued into the final game, which was Lens vs Rennes in Ligue 1. Rennes’ Arnaud Kalimuendo scored a penalty in the 24th minute and had his team leading the game for most of the 90.

After a goalmouth scramble in the 96th minute – and an agonising wait on a VAR check – M’Bala Nzola equalised for the visitors and ensured the punter’s £20 bet landed.

This secured a whopping total of £49,679.93, and has been described as one of the most “impressive” accumulators placed so far this season.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “You’ll do well to find a more impressive – and dramatic – acca than this all season… for not one, but two, late goals to go in your favour, with £50k on the line, truly is remarkable stuff. We’ve heard Lens is lovely this time of year… Ipswich isn’t too bad, either!”
