School compelled into ‘lockdown’ after receiving ‘threatening telephone name’
A school was thrown into chaos after a “threatening phone call” sparked a lockdown earlier this morning (September 25).
Co-op Academy in Bebington, Wirral, received menacing threats, as confirmed by Merseyside Police who took a report of the threatening call at about 11.10am.
A statement issued to parents and carers, which was obtained by the ECHO, read: “The school is in lockdown as we have had a threatening phone call. Police are on their way. DO NOT COME TO THE SCHOOL. We will keep you updated. Everyone is safe.”

Thankfully, all staff and children were confirmed safe by the police, who also stated they would stay on site throughout the afternoon for added reassurance while they continue their investigation into the alarming event.
Merseyside Police released a statement regarding the incident: “We can confirm that we are investigating an incident of malicious communications reported by Co-op Academy Bebington this morning, Wednesday 25 September. At around 11.10am, we received a report that someone had called the school and made threats.
“Officers attended the school and all staff and children are safe and well. Officers will remain at the school this afternoon to provide reassurance and inquiries are ongoing into the incident.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
