Pair tried ‘promoting their child for six-pack of beer’ – their ‘contract’ is sick
A couple has been accused of trying to flog their two-month-old son for a six-pack of beer and some cash, as per the authorities.
Darien Urban, 21, and Shalene Ehlers, 20, were allegedly seeking an alcohol-fix on the night they are claimed to have offered up their baby for sale at the Beaver Lake Hide-A-Way Campground in Rogers, Arkansas.
It’s reported a concerned individual used the phone in the manager’s office to ring up the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, revealing the pair “tried to give up the baby for a 6-pack of beer and then wanted $1,000 for the baby”.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
The pair are now facing charges, with one count each of endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to accept consideration for relinquishment of a minor, says LawandCrime. The duo had also reportedly inked a contract to hand over their rights to the tot.
The alleged contract stated: “I Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers are signing our rights over to Cody Nathaniel Martin of our baby boy [redacted] for $1,000 on 09/21/2024. Disclaimer: After signing this there will be no changing yall two’s minds and to never contact again.”
Cops also claim to have got their hands on mobile phone footage showing Urban and Ehlers putting pen to paper on the deal with a man supposedly trying to buy the baby. Ehler is also said to have hit up another couple’s camper, as per the affidavit, reports the Mirror US.
When the couple turned down the offer, the mum walked away, but a bloke named Ricky Crawford stepped in proposing a beer swap for keeping the baby overnight.
Crawford was allegedly concerned about the little one’s safety and was keen to remove him from Urban’s and Ehler’s care until the morning. The official document states: “He asked if he could have the baby overnight and provided Urban and Ehlers with several cans of beer in exchange. Urban and Ehlers agreed and gave the baby along with a diaper bag to Crawford.”
An officer penned in the affidavit: “Based on the totality of the investigation, it is believed both Urban and Ehler created a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury by abandoning their minor child initially with an obviously intoxicated male and ultimately with someone they did not know.”
