Brits recall probably the most unforgettable moments from the final 20 years

According to a survey of 2,000 adults, the top iconic moment of the last 20 year’s was the King’s coronation, followed by the Queen’s Jubilee.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding and the ‘Queen’ parachuting into the London 2012 opening ceremony completed was also included in the top five.

But it wasn’t just about the royals, sporting achievements and musical moments also made it into the top 10.

These included the Lionesses Euros victory, Andy Murray’s Wimbledon triumphs, and Susan Boyle’s 2009 Britain’s Got Talent audition was deemed the most iconic moment.

Motorola UK commissioned the study to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of its razr smartphone, and the launch of the razr 50 ultra.

Miles Norman, UK&I general manager at the smartphone company, said: “Looking back on the last two decades, it’s remarkable to see just how many iconic moments have happened that have shaped culture.”

“From spectacular Royal events to gripping sporting moments, each occasion has brought us joy. So much has changed since 2004, especially in the realm of technology.”

“The majority of Brits are shocked at how fast the last twenty years have gone, but if you look at all that’s changed, you realise just how far we’ve come.”

The study highlighted that a staggering 84% of Brits can’t believe how swiftly the past two decades have flown by and three-quarters (75%) are astounded by the amount of change since 2004.

In the next 20 years, a third (33%) of Brits would love to see England finally end their long-standing heartache by clinching a Euros or World Cup title.

Meanwhile, 18% are keen on the idea of more British films achieving global success and recognition, according to the research conducted via OnePoll.

Reflecting on their personal iconic moments since 2004, welcoming a new family member and embarking on a dream holiday topped the list of their favourite years in this period.

Others fondly recall the year they met their current partner and their wedding day with over one in 10 (11%) capturing treasured memories on their smartphones daily.

Miles Norman from Motorola UK chimed in: “One of the biggest changes in the past two decades has been how we capture and relive our favourite memories.”

“The rise of smartphones in this period has had a massive impact on the way we document personal milestones and national events the average Brit has over 1,000 cherished memories stored on their devices.”

“On top of this, a fifth anticipate more exciting infrastructure projects being completed in the next two decades like theme parks, stadiums, and arenas.”
