Man Utd followers moan ‘what a method to deal with a hero’ after Sir Alex Ferguson resolution
Manchester United supporters have been quick to hit back after the club reportedly terminated an ambassadorial contract with club legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
Fergie, now 82, is the most successful manager in the club’s history and remained an ambassador following his retirement in 2013. The Scot spent 26 years in the Old Trafford hot seat winning 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.
According to The Athletic, the seven-figure deal which has been in place since he stepped down has now been axed by new owners INEOS as part of a cost-cutting strategy.

The news comes after a recent board meeting in London where the future of Erik ten Hag was discussed. United’s new hierarchy has come under increasing pressure to sack the Dutchman after a poor start to the season – so this latest decision to get rid a club legend instead has just added fuel to the fire.
Fans didn’t hide their opinions on social media, with supporter and broadcaster Jay Motty posting: “The optics of this are f*****g dreadful. From a PR point of view this couldn’t look worse for INEOS. Is it really worth it?”

Another described sacking Sir Alex before Ten Hag as a “bold move” with one labelling it “very disrespectful” to the legendary gaffer.
INEOS will have hoped that news of this decision wouldn’t be leaked in such a way but given the size of United and the coverage the club receives, it’s no surprise. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also spoken very highly of Ferguson in the past so the decision is baffling.
The Red Devils’ next clash sees them host Brentford in the Premier League a game that’s viewed as a must-win for Ten Hag.
While they’ve been quick to decide the future of a former manager, the fate of their current one still hangs in the balance.
