John Terry’s golf howler as Chelsea icon smashes roof tile on non-public jet jaunt
John Terry hit the roof – literally – on a luxury golf trip away with his mates in Ireland.
The ex-Chelsea and England defender was enjoying a round with his pals at the stunning £315-a-round Hogs Head Golf Club, in Waterville, Ireland at the weekend. Terry and his pals flew out on a private jet and enjoyed expensive wines, whiskeys and cigars.
And on a post on his Instagram page, a horror tee shot on the last hole from Terry went way off line on the 636-yard par five – landing on the roof of a building to the right of the fairway. At least he didn’t slip when he took the shot.

It smashed the slate tile on top of the building, with his pals jeering at him for his howler. They shouted “Fore!” with the ball in the air, followed by cries of laughter after it clattered on to the roof.
One added: “It’s hit the roof.” Another said: “It’s come back on. It’s on the roof.”

Terry – a member of the Premier League hall of fame – later apologised to Brady Sherwood, director of the course. He said: “What a great trip, lots of laughs, some good golf, great wine and far too many whiskeys. Sorry Brady for the roof tile.”
Sherwood had no issue with Terry’s wayward play, though, and even autographed the broken slate and gave it to the Stamford Bridge hero. On it, he wrote: “Dear John, an expensive way of playing marbles!”

When finally home after his trip, Terry then placed it in one of his trophy cabinets alongside replicas of the Premier League and FA Cup trophies.
