Father shot lifeless after ‘road-rage driver snapped’

A 75-year-old man has been charged with murder after a father was shot dead in front of his three children during a road rage incident in North Carolina

Terrell Giddens is accused of killing Jeffery Guida, 40, after an argument spiraled out of control at a road intersection in Catawba, North Carolina, on October 12.

He allegedly pulled his rifle out in the middle of the road rage incident and shot the father of three dead.

He is then said to have fired his gun at the truck where Guida’s children, aged 13, 11 and two, were.

Fortunately none of the children were hurt in the attack, authorities have said.

Giddens has been charged with murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder.

Detectives said he fled the scene but was tracked down by police and taken into custody.

‘The suspect has been charged, shot the victim, then shot into the victim’s car,’ Aaron Turk, with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, said.

Herb Perce, a defense attorney, who was in the courtroom when Giddens appeared on Monday, said according to Fox 12: ‘Sounds like the guy just snapped.’

‘It’s just a shame the man got killed. It’s just the shame of it and this man will probably spend the rest of his life in prison,’ he added.

Neighbours have been left shaken by the shooting which happened at the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive in Catawba.

One said that their heart ‘goes out to you’ with another adding that it was ‘unbelievable’.

Giddens was not released on bail and told the court he would hire his own lawyer.
