Littler to comply with darts heroes after signing deal for the TV reboot of Bullseye

Luke Littler is set to follow in the footsteps of darting legends in the TV reboot of Bullseye.

Littler, 17, will join Freddie Flintoff and throw for charity during the Christmas special of the show. The teen sensation has shot to superstardom over the past 12 months after he was beaten out in the Paddy Power PDC World Championship final by Luke Humphries.

However, according to The Sun, Runcorn-born Littler’s popularity has caused ITV bosses to revive the show. In the original show, professional darts players tried to score as many points as possible to bag money for charities.

An insider told The Sun: “Luke wasn’t even born when Bullseye was on our screens with the original host, Jim Bowen. But Luke knows this is a plum role to have landed.

“As he steps up to the Bullseye oche he knows he’s following in the footsteps of legends including Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson who all threw darts on the programme in its 1980s heyday.

“It’s also a coup for the makers of the new Bullseye as Luke is now one of Britain’s best-known players. Producers moved swiftly to sign him shortly after the programme was recommissioned by ITV. It all adds to the huge sense of excitement for the programme to return.”

Littler didn’t have the dream weekend at the World Grand Prix earlier this month.

The 17-year-old sensation came crashing out in the first round to Rob Cross – who himself had never won a match at the unique tournament. At the World Grand Prix, players must hit a double to start a leg as well as nail one to finish.

Littler returned for the Players Championship in the week as he builds up to his Paddy Power PDC World Championship return in December.
