Caitlin Clark’s telling assertion says all of it as WNBA star tipped to give up league
Caitlin Clark has seemingly quashed rumours of a shock departure from the Women’s National Basketball Association league.
The 22-year-old is the rising star of WNBA. And in a heartfelt seven-word statement reflecting on her season, she declared: ‘I wouldn’t change anything for the world’.
The point guard shot to fame following an outstanding rookie season with Indiana Fever. That led her team to the WNBA playoffs before they were ultimately defeated in the first round by Connecticut Sun.
Clark’s performances saw her beat Angel Reese to win Rookie of the Year, causing viewer numbers to skyrocket as new audiences tuned in to watch the Iowa native’s ascent to stardom. Despite her record-breaking season sparking speculation about her future, some suggesting the 22 year old might be considering leaving the WNBA, it seems Clark is not planning to go anywhere soon.
Interest in the rookie would undoubtedly be high if she announced plans to leave the United States, reports the Express. However, Clark appears to have already hinted at her intention to stay in the WNBA for the forthcoming season.
In an Instagram post shared earlier this week, she expressed her gratitude, saying: “I feel very thankful. I wouldn’t change anything for the world. I feel very thankful for the relationships I’ve built, the opportunities that I’ve had, the way people have supported me, and whether it was at Iowa or whether it’s now in the WNBA.”
Clark revealed to her fans that she’s sticking around for the foreseeable future, hinting heavily at no plans to leave the US scene just yet. She shared heartfelt words of gratitude on social media: “Year one – thank you to the many people who have supported me as I’ve been able to live my childhood dream. I’m filled with gratitude as I reflect on this past year of my life. See you all in year two.”
Next up for Clark is a change in the sporting arena, as she shifts her focus onto the lush greens from the basketball court. She and Indiana Fever teammate Lexie Hull are set to show their skills at the high-profile LPGA Tour event next month, hosted by golfing legend Annika Sorenstam.
The pair have given a sneak peek into their prep, uploading clips of their training sessions. In one video, Clark particularly stands out while tackling a par-three hole, coming tantalisingly close to nailing a hole-in-one, proving she might just be as adept with a golf club as she is with a basketball.
