Uber Green: Londoners can now hail a Lotus electrical hyper-SUV value £130K
- During November Uber riders can hail a Lotus Eletre EV for a very glam journey
Uber riders in London will have the chance to ride in a ultra-luxurious Lotus Eletre hyper-SUV this November – one of the most expensive and high-performance electric cars in the world.
Sports car maker Lotus has teamed up with Uber to promote the ride hailing app’s green option and encourage zero-emission transport in the capital.
As a bonus, the rider who racks up the most ‘green’ miles before the end of November will win free Uber Green rides for a decade.
A fleet of Lotus Eletre’s – licensed and managed by Otto Cars – will join Uber for a limited time in London and will be available for passengers to book who select Uber Green
The electric hyper-SUVs, which retails from almost £89,500 to £129,950 without extras, is one of the most powerful and luxe electric cars on the market

The electric hyper-SUV, which retails from almost £89,500 to £129,950 without extras, is one of the most powerful electric cars on the market.
The R trim has a whopping 905hp and can do 0 to 62mph in 2.95 seconds, making it more powerful and faster off the mark than a Lamborghini Urus.
Not that you’re going to be seeing that kind of performance on the 20mph streets of London, but you will be able to enjoy the smooth instant acceleration, the silent cabin thanks to active noise-cancelling and double-glazing, and the immensely plush and spacious interior.
The Eletre is the first Lotus to have the new Hyper OS infotainment system. The main infotainment screen is a 15.1-inch setup which powers up with the Eletre highlighted against the Lotus yellow background
Depending on which Eletre you hail there will either be three seats in the rear or two with a centre console and reclining seats – seats are made from Re-Fibre materials woven from fashion industry cutoffs which makes your ride even more sustainable.
Front passengers can enjoy 20-way adjustable seats with both heated and massage functions – so be prepared to squabble for shotgun.
Andrew Brem, general manager for Uber UK, said: ‘We’re thrilled to team up with Lotus to combine cutting-edge luxury with sustainable travel.
‘Uber drivers are already leading the way, going electric far quicker than regular motorists – making London Uber’s global capital for electrification.
‘Now we’re excited to allow our riders to experience one of the world’s most exciting electric cars.’
Uber Green is the zero-emission electric option which already accounts for nearly 30 per cent of Uber miles in London, and supports the capital’s move towards a cleaner, greener future.
And to encourage even greater electric take up across London the app has also launched a special competition: the rider who saves the most emissions by the end of November by taking Uber Green trips will win free Uber Green rides for a decade.
The Eletre charges from 10-80% in just 20 minutes using a 350kW DC ultra-rapid charger
Riders will have until 30 November to add to their electric miles and all Uber riders can track the emissions they’ve saved by using the in-app Emissions Savings tool, which launched earlier this year.
Conor Horne, of Lotus, said: ‘We hope this initiative will not only enhance the riding experience for Uber customers but also contribute to a greener city, something we at Lotus are very passionate about.’
