Pete Wicks‘ ex-girlfriend has revealed the real reason he’s been linked with Maura Higgins and his Strictly dance partner Jowita Przystal.

Former TOWIE star Chloe Sims, 42, who dated Pete in secret for two years between 2018 and 2020, told MailOnline he possesses a ‘magic power’, which has seen him become a master of seduction with the ability to woo even ‘straight men.’

Podcaster Pete, 36, has recently seen his friendship with ex-Love Island star Maura, 33, develop into a romantic connection while he and Strictly professional Jowita, 30, are also reportedly growing close as they compete together on the BBC show. 

The love triangle hasn’t come as a surprise to Chloe, who admits she fell for Pete’s charms despite the fact he ‘isn’t her type in a million years.’

Chloe believes Pete’s personal magnetism attracted Strictly bosses to sign him up to the show despite them previously saying former TOWIE stars were banned from taking part.

She told MailOnline: ‘Pete is a right bloody charmer, even men go silly for him, straight men.

‘I used to look at him and think, what has this guy got? It’s so bizarre, men love him, women love him, older women, younger women, he’s just got something, this charm about him.

‘I can see why all these women would be linked to him, they probably are, there’s no smoke without fire. I can see why people end up in these relationships on Strictly, they are spending all that time up close and personal, and I can see how these romances happen.

‘He’s a natural born flirt, people instantly fall for him, and I have witnessed it. We would go out to all sorts of events, and I would look and think woah, people literally fall for him instantly.

‘To look at him from afar and if you didn’t know him, he’s not my type in a million years, not even close, but whatever he has got, some magic power, I do not know.

‘But he must have that to even be on Strictly because they publicly said they would never have TOWIE on there so that’s how strong his charm is.’

Pete, whose ex-girlfriends include former TOWIE stars Megan McKenna and Shelby Tribble, was spotted kissing Maura at last month’s National Television Awards and they also appeared affectionate at this week’s Pride of Britain ceremony. 

Meanwhile, his intimate performances with Jowita which have included the pair nearly kissing on the dance floor raised suspicions over a potential romance blossoming.

She said: ‘I haven’t seen the show, but I do follow Pete and his mum, so I have been seeing the updates from them both.

‘My daughter and my nan have been watching it and they have both said that he’s really good.

‘They said he wasn’t good in the beginning… I hope that’s not rude because I haven’t seen it but the feedback from my nan and you’ve got to let her be blunt, she’s 85, he wasn’t good in the beginning but he’s really good now.

‘My nan has a soft spot for Pete, she always really liked him and wants him to win. Madi has been watching it as well, so I’ve heard that he’s been doing well. I am super happy for him.’

She added: ‘I have seen some questionable outfits especially the George of the Jungle one, I had to skip past that post!’ 

Pete knocked back questions from close friend Olivia Attwood about his dating life during a recent appearance on her podcast So Wrong, It’s Right, saying: ‘I’m constantly connected with everyone.’

He said: ‘Me and Maura have known each other for a long time… She is lovely. She is attractive. I think Maura is great and we get on very well and we have done for a very long time.’

When asked by Olivia if they are dating, Pete replied: ‘No’ but the podcast host suspected he wasn’t telling the truth. 

Pete also rejected claims he and Jowita are romantically involved, telling Olivia: ‘We are dance partners. She is amazing and I get on really well with her. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life.’
