Mail writers shortlisted for host of accolades on the British Journalism Awards

The strength in depth of the Mail’s outstanding reporting has been recognised by the British Journalism Awards as judges shortlisted a host of our writers for accolades.

Deputy Chief Reporter Inderdeep Bains was recognised in the Features Journalism category for her astonishing series highlighting the case of gravely ill teenager Sudiksha Thirumalesh – Child ST – and her battle against the State to tell her story.

In the same category, Barbara McMahon also earned a nomination for her hard-hitting pieces on Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, and the terrifying drug kingpin Griselda Blanco.

Chief Sports Feature Writer Riath Al-Samarrai’s compelling features and Ian Herbert’s fearless investigations placed them both in the running for the coveted Sports Journalism award – with the Mail netting more nominations in this category than any other organisation.

The groundbreaking work of Mail Online’s Deep Dive team – including its remarkable minute-by-minute reconstruction of the Grenfell Tower tragedy – has been shortlisted for the Innovation prize

And despite only launching this summer, the groundbreaking work of Mail Online’s Deep Dive team – including its remarkable minute-by-minute reconstruction of the Grenfell Tower tragedy – has already caught the eye of the judges who picked it out as a contender for the Innovation prize.

Press Gazette chief Dominic Ponsford said the awards, to be announced on December 12, ‘celebrated the stories which would not be told without journalists willing to shine a light on uncomfortable truths and publications brave enough to back them up’.
