Frank Lampard was left speechless after his face appeared on labels of drugs in a £38million bust in Australia.

‘Ice meth’ was recently found in duffel bags in Sydney, with the Chelsea icon’s face appearing on bricks of the drugs, with each brick wrapped in a plastic bag marked with an image of Lampard.

It is believed that the image is the ‘trademark’ of the gang who supply the drugs, with it suggested that the producer is a Chelsea fan, using a picture of the former midfielder from 2017.

The image shows the Blues icon in a suit at Stamford Bridge, waving to the fans, and is thought to have been taken seven years ago.

Now, he has spoken on the revelation, admitting he had not been made aware of what had happened.

‘Yeah, you probably know my answer on that one,’ he told The Sun. ‘What am I going say about that?’

‘I’m not aware of it. I don’t even know what to say to you to be honest. I’ve literally no comment on that.’

Lampard played for the Blues between 2001 and 2014, and also managed the club between 2019 and 2021 and briefly again in 2023 as interim boss.

The shipment of methamphetamine, meanwhile, according to The Mirror, travelled from Los Angeles to Maroubra in east Sydney. The 95kg shipment is reported to have been tracked by Australian Federal Police.

The alleged trafficker Richard Prothero, 37, from South West Sydney’s Liverpool suburb, was arrested at gunpoint in the car park of the surf club, which is where the drugs were found, on Tuesday.

Armed officers are reported to have approached him after they saw him collect a key from under a car and then starting the engine.

He was charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs and made no application for bail when he appeared in court.

Australian Federal Police Det Supt Kristie Cressy said: ‘Methamphetamine, like all illicit drugs, causes psychological, financial and social harm to users, their loved ones and the broader community.

‘Criminals do not care about the harm they cause. They are motivated by the profits they can make. Across Australia there were 10,100 methamphetamine-related hospitalisations in 2021-2022 – which equates to more than 27 every day on average.

‘This has an impact on the health system that can negatively affect the entire community. Investigations like this show the resolve and relentlessness of our investigators in making Australia a hostile environment for organised crime.’
