Manchester United lost once again at the weekend as they continued their dire start to the new season, going down 2-1 against West Ham.
The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League table with pressure continuing to increase on Erik ten Hag, whose Manchester United future is under intense scrutiny despite his contract being extended in the summer until July 2026.
One of United’s key issues of late has been scoring goals, with the club netting just eight times in the league so far this season at less than a goal every game.
That’s a number that is higher than only two sides in the top flight, with Crystal Palace and Southampton both logging six goals each, and the likes of Ipswich and Everton both scoring more.

United have scored just 18.5 per cent of the big chances they have created this season, leaving them as the only team below 20 per cent.
The next lowest is Southampton with 21.1 per cent, followed by Nottingham Forest on 26.1 per cent.
Remarkably, the number of big chances they have created is higher than that of rivals Manchester City, who currently top the Premier League.
United have created 27 in total, with City on 24, and the Red Devils logging the seventh highest in the league.
They are bettered by only Liverpool (33), Brentford (32), Chelsea (31), Tottenham (31), Arsenal (31) and Aston Villa (28).
United have just taken just five of those 27 big chances, with a number of games being memorable for chances being squandered by the attacking players in particular.
Against West Ham, several good opportunities were wasted, including Alejandro Garnacho hitting the bar, Bruno Fernandes putting a free header over the bar and Diogo Dalot missing an open goal.
A number of big chances were also wasted against the likes of Crystal Palace and Brighton this season.

In terms of the top end of the conversion rate numbers, Leicester top the pile, having netted 10 of their 16 big chances created at a staggering 62.5 per cent.
Second is Brighton with 48 per cent, and third is City with 45.8 per cent.
At the other end of the big chances created numbers, Crystal Palace represent the lowest number with 14, with Wolves not far behind on 15.
The lower number of big chances haven’t come at a cost to City, meanwhile, who have scored the most goals in the league this season with 20.
They numbers have, however, proved to be fruitful for the likes of Tottenham and Brentford, who have both netted 19 respectively.
Arsenal will likely be disappointed with their numbers, having scored just 11 of their 31 big chances (35.5 per cent), while Newcastle’s struggles in front of goal are outlined by them netting six of 20 (30 per cent).
Also to note is Forest, who have scored just six big chances despite Chris Wood being third in the goal scoring rankings with seven goals this season.
Ten Hag, meanwhile, criticised his team’s finishing following their defeat by West Ham.
‘We created so many chances, we played such good football, especially in the first half,’ he said. ‘I think there were six or seven 100 percent chances that we should have scored. When we don’t score we have to stay calm.

‘That is a point of improvement, but all over I don’t have so many criticisms about my team, other than not scoring.’
‘I can also say Alejandro Garnacho, twice, Rasmus Hojlund one time, [Marcus] Rashford, Bruno [Fernandes],’ Ten Hag said. ‘It’s not fair to pick one player out who missed a chances when there were so many who were missing chances.
‘The luck is definitely not on my side at the moment.
‘Last season was not different but in the end we turned it around and we are so determined that it will be the same case today. We have to turn this around and it will turn around if we keep playing like we are playing now.’
