NASA astronaut spots mysterious eerie lights flashing over Earth as he units up digicam

An astronaut has told of the eerie flashing lights he saw over Earth as he was setting up his camera.

NASA’s Matthew Dominick has revealed that he witnessed a mysterious red sprite above storm flashes a few days before he returned home Friday (October 25). He said of his sighting on October 20: “A red sprite shoots out above a lightning strike over Central Africa. I was getting setup to take images of Cairo. On the approach across Africa there was a bunch of lightning.

“Out of 800 or so images there was a red sprite!” The phenomenon associated with thunderstorms is called a Transient Luminous Event (TLE) and they take place above thunderclouds, between 40 and 80 kilometres over the ground. Boffins believe the size of this red sprite is roughly 14 by 26km.

NASA explained the presence of TLEs: “The bright red flashes are a less understood phenomena associated with powerful lightning events and appear high above the clouds in the mesosphere. Transient Luminous Events (TLEs), including red sprites, are colourful bursts of energy that appear above storms as a result of lightning activity occurring in and below storms on Earth.”

NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps – as well as Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin – splash downed safely in their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, on Friday, after finishing a seven-month-long science mission aboard the International Space Station.

One of the astronauts, who hasn’t been identified, was hospitalised upon return from the International Space Station for an unspecified medical condition but was released on Saturday in “good health”, according to the US Space Agency. They added in a blog post that the crew member had returned to the Johnson Space Center in Houston “in good health and will resume normal post-flight reconditioning with other crew members”.

The Daily Star reported that a lawyer known for disclosing details of UFOs and alien visits claimed to know the location of two alien bases on Earth.

And during a new interview, a clip of which has gone viral on social media site Reddit, Sheehan dropped another bombshell about the location of alien bases on Earth. He said: “[There are] bases here, on our planet. Many of which are located high in the desolate areas in the mountains where very few people ever go, and beneath the sea. There’s a major base in the Pacific that we’re virtually certain exists off Baja – between Baja and Guadeloupe Island.” Read the full story here.
