Roy Keane cryptically breaks silence with social media submit after Erik ten Hag is sacked

Roy Keane has addressed Erik ten Hag’s sacking as Manchester United boss with a cryptic social media post.

Ten Hag was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford on Monday (October 28) morning after the Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by West Ham following a controversial last minute penalty – that was dispatched by Jarrod Bowen.

And Keane has now offered his thoughts when sharing a snap of him enjoying a walk on social media: “In good teams, coaches hold players accountable. In great teams, players hold players accountable.”

Keane’s fellow personality on the Stick to Football podcast, Jamie Carragher, offered a more emotional assessment of United’s decision to sack Ten Hag.

He told Sky Sports: “It should have happened in the summer and that’s not on Erik ten Hag, that’s on the new ownership model who have come into the club. All they have done is kick the can down the road for what is it, nine league games Manchester United have played in?

“And they’ve cost themselves £200m in terms of bringing players in during the summer who the manager would have identified. It just seems daft, really, the fact that they kept him in the job because it was always inevitable this was going to happen.

“He had to hit the ground running, he had to almost be top of the league – there or there abouts, really – to stay in the job.”

While United icon Gary Neville, another of Sky Sports’ headline pundits, has yet to speak out since Ten Hag’s dismissal.
