Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already opened up on the possibility of taking the reigns at Manchester United.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is on the lookout for a new boss after he sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday (October 28) morning. “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager,” a statement read.

“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”

And while Van Nistelrooy will take temporary charge of the Red Devils, Solskjaer has admitted he would love the chance to return to Manchester. “If the family [United] asks, I would say yes every day of the week,” Solskjaer revealed during a Q&A at the Oslo Business Forum.

“It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course.

Not just with eyes for United, Solskjaer’s also watching out for the Norway manager gig, with current coach Stale Solbakken set to hang up his boots if Norway don’t make the World Cup in 2026.

The Norwegian icon opened up about his ambitions, stating, “I am a proud Norwegian, and of course if the question arises, when Stale decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions.

“I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from.”
