Toddler, two, killed after being hit by automobile in London as police query driver

A toddler has died after he was hit by a car on a quiet residential street as police launch an investigation into the incident. 

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after the boy was knocked down on a street in Wembley, north west London, on Sunday evening.

Despite efforts to save his life the two-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement the Metropolitan Police told MailOnline: ‘Police are investigating a fatal collision that took place in Rowley Close, Wembley at around 7.15pm on Sunday, 27 October.

‘A car was in collision with a two-year-old boy at the location. He was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of medical staff he sadly died.

‘The driver of the car has been spoken to. They have not been arrested.

‘Enquiries continue and anyone with information which would assist is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton on 020 8246 9820.’
