Primark’s £3 perfumes that mimic scents like Chanel and YSL are a success with buyers

Perfume is notoriously pricey, particularly when it’s from a luxury brand.

These can often cost you hundreds of pounds, which isn’t ideal when you need to replenish your supply – especially in the midst of the ongoing cost of living crisis.

However, there are numerous affordable alternatives available that smell remarkably similar to your favourite brands but at a fraction of the price. Currently, high street giant Primark is offering a selection of these budget-friendly options that are worth checking out if you’re a fan of designer fragrances.

TikToker Beauty Glow Girl, renowned for her posts about budget-friendly versions of luxury makeup, skincare and perfumes, recently visited Primark to explore the range of fragrances currently on sale.

She claims that they bear a striking resemblance to high-end perfumes by Chanel, Carolina Herrera and YSL – yet they all retail for £3 or less, compared to their luxury counterparts which start at a staggering £300, reports Teesside Live.

Showcasing each bottle in-store, she began with Primark’s Taboo, priced at £3, which is said to smell identical to Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Baccarat Rouge 540 – which retails at £245.

Among the favourites is Primark’s £3 Good Chica, clearly inspired by Carolina Herrera’s Good Girl perfume which costs £124. Primark’s Fresh, also £3, is rumoured to be a dead ringer for Chanel’s Chance Eau Fraiche, priced at £145.

Meanwhile, the Red Flambe, also £3, is touted to be a dead ringer for Tom Ford’s swanky Lost Cherry scent, which will set you back a hefty £386.

Over to Primark’s Free perfume at £3 it’s been dubbed the spitting image of YSL’s Libre that retails for a cool £97. Plus, there’s the PS Wild Azalea from Primark, priced at just £2.50 for its dinky size, allegedly giving off the same vibe as Victor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb, tagged at £130.

Down in the comments, happy customers were gushing about these budget-friendly scents being bang on like their pricier counterparts. One user bragged: “Had so many people been asking me what I’m wearing and it’s the free from Primark for £3.”

Another chimed in: “I have red flambe and Baccarat rouge and they both smell the exact same. Except the red flambe is a bit more sweet smelling.”

Then a third chimed in with their go-to scent, saying: “Taboo is the one, it’s always in my handbag,” while someone else enthused: “Good Chica is gorgeous.”

But some noted that these knock-off fragrances don’t quite hang around as long, with one critique pointing out: “But they don’t last 5 minutes.”

Yet a savvy beauty buff had a nifty trick up their sleeve to make the scent stick around longer: “Try a small bit of vase line in what areas you wanna put it (pulse points work better) and then rub it in, THEN add the perfume! ! Tried it before and it worked.”
