Fans name for Old Trafford to be ‘KNOCKED DOWN’ after a video emerged of damaged seats being repaired throughout Man United’s draw with Chelsea
Man United supporters have called for major renovations to be undertaken at Old Trafford after a video of seats being repaired at the stadium was widely circulated online.
United’s dismal start to the campaign continued on Sunday, as interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was forced to settle for a point after taking the lead against Chelsea.
However, while the club’s situation on the pitch remains under intense scrutiny, United fans were quick to point out that the club’s ground is also seemingly in need of a serious overhaul.
At half-time in Sunday’s late kick off, a video purporting to be from the game showed staff attempting to make repairs to broken seats inside the stadium.
Fans nearby were forced to stand as the repairs were attempted leading to significant backlash surrounding the state of the ground on social media.

The incident comes after huge leaks in the ground’s roof were reported earlier this year
One fan claimed Old Trafford should be knocked down, whilst another insisted that United’s rumoured move to a new stadium couldn’t come soon enough.
The incident marks just the latest issue to befall Old Trafford in recent months, after torrents of water cascaded down holes in the ground’s notoriously leaky roof during a defeat to Arsenal in May.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe had reportedly planned to spend £245m improving the condition of the ground prior to his arrival at the club, with the potential for a large-scale redevelopment.
In August however, it was revealed that the club’s Ineos owners are instead pressing forward with plans to build an entirely new stadium situated in the same area of Old Trafford.
Old Trafford has served as United’s home since 1910 and is the largest club football stadium in the UK
Speaking from the Labour party congress, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham outlined United’s potential ambitions for the new stadium and how it can have a positive effect on the city.
‘This would be the single most significant football location in the world,’ Burnham told Sky Sports. ‘It would mean the north west of England has the best football infrastructure of anywhere else on the planet.
