Tesco prospects fume at hour-long queues in scramble for Christmas supply slot
Tesco customers have been left fuming after Christmas delivery slot booking ended in chaos. The major supermarket launched its booking system for Christmas food deliveries this week, and many angry customers have taken to social media to fume about the long waiting times – and the lack of availability anywhere near the big festive day.
One customer, posting on social media site Twitter/X today showed that they were given a message stating that “the wait time is more than an hour” to then be told that the latest available delivery slot was December 2 – 23 days before Christmas.
And when contacted by Tesco on the social media site, they were told that those “who pay a monthly fee for plans . . . then get access to priority slots”.
However, the customer replied: “We’re on that plan and this was still what we got given. Still had to wait in a queue to get access.”
And another wrote: “I have been a Delivery Off Peak Saver since 2020 but I do not have any slots after 2nd Dec yet the Xmas slots were supposedly active??”
To which a Tesco representative replied: “Anytime plans will allow customers to see early access to Christmas delivery slots, but Off Peak plans do not provide early access. You should see Christmas slots available to book from 6am on Tuesday, November 12.”
But more customer piled in, with a third posting: “The next Christmas slots open at 6am on November 12th. You’ll need to get online early. The last date for delivery is December 23rd.”
And a fourth questioned: “When will Christmas delivery slots be available for everyday people? Your system currently allows me to order a turkey but specifies I need to book a 22nd Dec delivery slot onwards, but they aren’t showing. Seems a bit illogical.”
