Queen Camilla dominated out of Gladiator II showbiz bash on the crimson carpet
Buckingham Palace has announced Queen Camilla is back in action after a chest infection sidelined her – but she will sadly still miss the Gladiator II premiere.
Last week, it was announced that the monarch was pulling out of engagements after becoming unwell with a chest infection. The Queen spent several days resting at home under doctor’s orders, a senior palace aide said. However, the Mirror reported that she will return to public duties today, November 12.
Sadly, this will not be in time for her to attend the Gladiator II premiere on Wednesday, with a source saying she’ll step away from the long-awaited sequel to aid in her recovery.
It is not definitively known if Camilla is a fan of the original movie, released in 2000 and starring Russell Crowe, but her calendar did include a red carpet visit to the star-studded premiere as part of the Royal Film Performance.
Camilla will still attend a Palace reception with the King on Wednesday to celebrate the TV and film industry, but she will not be present for the entirety of the engagement.
The Queen will get her fill of literary delight, however, as today it was announced she is attending a Booker Prize reception at Clarence House. However, she will be meeting guests for a shorter period than planned as she continues to recover.
The changes to her diary are understood to have been made to protect and prioritise her continued recovery, with royal doctors keen to prevent any setback from the nasty seasonal illness which saw her pull out of engagements last week.
The Queen was not present at Cenotaph war memorial in London for Remembrance Sunday, where King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and other members of the royal family gathered to pay tribute to Britain’s war dead.
