Nicole Kidman takes savage swipe at legendary movie director Martin Scorsese
Nicole Kidman has worked with many top-tier directors over her decades in the film industry.
And in a new interview with Vanity Fair this week, the Oscar winner revealed she has always wanted to work with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, 81.
However, the 57-year-old also took a very pointed swipe at the Goodfellas auteur, noting his preference for casting male leads.
‘I’ve always said I want to work with Scorsese, if he does a film with women,’ she told the outlet.
Scorsese often works with male A-listers such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Daniel Day-Lewis.
Kidman isn’t the first lauded actress to point out Scorsese’s preference for masculine-heavy films, with Meryl Streep sharing similar sentiments in a 2011 interview.

‘I would like Martin Scorsese to be interested in a female character once in a while, but I don’t know if I’ll live that long,’ quipped the three-time Academy Award winner.
Kidman’s comment comes just days after she was noted to be wearing a hairpiece during a red carpet outing.
On Monday, The Hours star attended the premiere of Netflix‘s Spellbound in New York City.
The Moulin Rouge! actress wore a visible weave to add volume to her strawberry blonde locks to help give her a more youthful look.
However, the extra hair and Nicole’s natural locks seemed to be a slightly different shade as she flicked her locks over her shoulder.
The weave sat atop her head and was visible above her forehead.
Hollywood stars often wear wigs and hair extensions to achieve a more youthful and appearance as hair thins and loses volume with age.
Nicole also showed off her smooth, porcelain visage at the premiere with a natural makeup palette.

Nicole’s habit of wearing wigs in Hollywood movies has earned her a cult following over the years.
She hasn’t showcased her natural hair on screen since the early days of her career, and almost exclusively wears wigs for film roles.
One of the few times Nicole has displayed her naturally curly hair was in her first feature film, 1983’s BMX Bandits.
Interestingly, she is known to get a little touchy when asked about the subject.
She hung up on The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this year when asked about her wigs and also shut down a similar question from a journalist at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2018.
The Hours star has previously credited healthy lifestyle choices as the secret behind her age-defying complexion.
In 2007, Nicole denied undergoing cosmetic surgery and said her flawless skin is a result of her healthy lifestyle.

‘To be honest, I am completely natural,’ she told Marie Claire at the time.
‘I wear sunscreen and I don’t smoke. I take care of myself. I’m very proud to say that.’
However, in 2011, she admitted to getting Botox during an interview with German magazine, TV Movie.
‘I’ve tried a lot of things, but aside from sports and good nutrition, most things don’t make a difference,’ she said.
‘I even tried Botox but I didn’t like how my face looked afterwards. Now I don’t use it anymore and I can move my forehead again.’
Nicole’s hair appeared much thinner and shorter as she attended the Concert For Carolina Benefit with her husband Keith Urban last month
Nicole also previously showed off her collection of anti-ageing serums from plant-based beauty brand Seratopical.
In a sponsored video shared to Instagram, she was seen using the Radiant Face & Neck Serum, which retails for USD$40 (AUD$60).
She then demonstrated another of her favourite products, the Clarity Foaming Cleanser, which costs USD$25 (AUD$37).
Lastly, Nicole held up the Adoring Eye Serum while winking for the camera. The product also sells for USD$40 (AUD$60).
