Experts weigh in on the easiest way to get Glastonbury tickets – transfer to Liverpool

The infamous battle for Glastonbury tickets has left thousands stumped year on year, but there’s one demographic who appear to get them more than others.

Scousers, renowned for their love of music, are said to have an upper hand when it comes to the Glastonbury monopoly. Thousands of attendees wonder why they can hear the accent all around them while watching the fireworks from Glasto Hill on the first night.

Some say it’s luck, while others claim there are practical reasons behind the high volume of Liverpudlians. It could be VPNs, Wifi or some even say long term links with the festival itself.

Some people have theories on how Scousers score so many tickets

While the exact figures are not confirmed, punters are convinced around 31% of the crowd are from Merseyside. The festival itself is made up of 210,000 attendees, which would make over 65,000 from Liverpool.

Liverpool music sensation Jamie Webster, who has played at Worthy Farm several times said: “Scousers love Glasto and so many Scousers are at Glasto because it’s the best party in the world.

“So many people ask ‘how do so many Scousers get tickets?’ and it’s simple. They’re so determined not to miss out. If something is advertised as the best party in the world, or a playground for adults, you know, Scousers are going to make it their business to get in there, and that’s what they do. It’s just the fact that they’ve got more will to be there than anyone else.

“And for me that’s part of what makes it so special. [Glastonbury] is where everyone just seems to let go of whatever it is that has been consuming them in their day-to-day lives.”

A long-time rumour about Glastonbury is that Liverpool has higher internet speed than anywhere in the UK, making them better at grabbing the precious tickets. However, this was later disproved by price comparison company, USwitch, who isn’t in the top ten most mobile data-driven cities. They ranged somewhere in the middle of the listing.

Another huge theory claims that See Tickets, who sell the tickets, have servers based in Liverpool. The company has servers all over the UK, France and Germany, although the location has not been specified.

Adding to this, there was an old legend that one of the securtiy sites in the 1970s was based in Liverpool. When they went home, they told all of their friends and family about the amazing time they had, which spurred the Scousers’ long love of the festival.

Reddit users even added their own opinions to the issue. The main reason seemed to be “Scousers love a good party.” Adding to this, the accent.

Another commented added: “I think it’s overblown and people just notice scousers more. Let’s be honest the scouse accent is one of the more recognisable so you’ll pick it up out of a crowd easier than most other accents. You might head 10 different accents and gloss over them but you then hear the Scouse accent and it sticks in your head.”
